From the baseline, we normally play a “horizontal” singles strategy where we try to hit from corner to corner to create space to eventually have an opening to either play an approach shot, froce an error from our opponent, or hit an outright winner.
Today’s tip is a “vertical” strategy where we play a drop shot, then lob over our opponent’s backhand, and then play one of 3 shots from specific court positions depending on how our opponent handles that lob over their backhand.
Also, Mai and I found a way to cough up a 5-0 3rd set lead last weekend (totally my fault) and at this week’s newsletter I’ve described exactly what happened and what we’ll do next time.
