The overhead is an opportunity, not a liability, if you can instantly “find” the lob.
And that means more than just identifying the direction of the lob, but as important, determining the depth of the lob.
And instinctively the way we figure out our opponent’s depth of their lob is to NOT move our feet, but for a moment to go still to try and quiet our eyes to be able to read depth.
That slight hesitation to move back to get into position to play your overhead typically means you won’t be able to really hit an effective overhead and also be able to move back into your net position.
