Hi Geoff and thanks for your kind words.

That's right, it is a semi lob. It can have topspin but doesn't have to have much of it. As long as that shot can have a trajectory where it bounces up, then that's all you really need.

http://www.webtennis.net/tennis-lessons.htm

Thanks for your feedback and interest Geoff.
Dear Brent and Mai,
Loved the interview! It is so enjoyable to hear tennis described from the perspective of folks who play it mainly for the love of the game. And congratulations, Mai, on your remarkable feat in Chicago!

One question. I have Brent's entire tennis serve series of videos (worth every penny and more), but haven't gotten into the ground-stroke tutorials yet. I heard Mai emphasize her use of the 3/4 loop ball. What exactly is that, and is it covered in any of the tutorials here? From the sound of it, I'm guessing it's a semi-lob with lots of top-spin, hit deep, so that even if your opponent chases it down, they end up swinging at a ball that bounces up chest-high or higher, well out of their comfort zone.

Thanks again for a great site run by a charming couple!

Kind Regards,
Geoff

Geoffrey Sherwood
Montville, NJ
