We all strive to become better tennis players, but most of us don’t have a formula of how to effectively make changes to our game.
The easy part is to identify a problem and go get a lesson to hopefully make changes and improve.
There are lots of great teaching pros out there, but they aren’t miracle workers.
The most common missing component of making long lasting real improvement for tennis players is committing to on and off court rehearsing.
I spoke with tennis writer Joel Drucker this morning and we discussed step #4 of my soon to be released 7 step lesson on the specific sequential process for creating long lasting improvement to either a specific stroke or strategy.

Good conversation. I’m between a 4. and a 4.5 player but I suck sometimes! Just left Kiawah Island tennis with Roy Barth. Great place and program.
Learned a great game there. They call it Federer vs. Nadal. Federer has the entire singles ct. and Nadal must return every shot either to the deuce or add court depending on which one he chooses. Really works on accurate ground strokes and patience as to when to go for the winner or approach. Look forward to the new lesson.

Hi Mike and I appreciate your feedback.
Making even small changes to our games can be really frustrating, but understanding how the learning curve works and then accepting that there has to be peaks and valleys along the path of improving, that’s when we can accomplish our improvement goals.

Great piece Change is hard. Muscle memory is very difficult to change after being away from tennis for 40 yrs Have been using the mirror,& off court approach am noticing improvement but sure is slow have picked up some new things from you…Write stuff down. Be more specific in drills/practice Thanks Al
Hi Brent,
I purchased a practice hit from you a couple of weeks ago. that also is a great way to practice when it’s raining or if you just have 10 or 15 minutes to pracitce at home. One other thing, was I mistaken in thinking that you were offering a download lesson with the purchase? If so, how do I get that? Again, I think the practice hit is a really good investment for my game. Thanks, again.
Hi Michael and good to hear from you.
You are not mistaken, if you haven’t claimed your comp lesson that goes with your PracticeHit purchase, just send me an email to brent@webtennis.net letting me know which lesson you want.
Here’s the current list of available lessons.
